What does Children's Services do?

  1. Respond to reports of suspected child abuse or neglect by investigating allegations and assessing risk to the child.
  2. Provide in home services to families such as case planning, wraparound, and home management to help provide needed stability to ensure the safety of the children.
  3. Recruit, train, and license foster nad adoptive families for use when children are unable to remain safely in their birth home. Similar processes are used for kinship caregivers who can provide safe care for children.
  4. Identify and coordinate specialized services for the family and address problems that contributed to the child abuse and neglect. Such services include mental health, and/or drug and/or alcohol counseling for families and children.
  5. Work cooperatively with the juvenile court to ensure that children have a safe, stable and permanent home.
